Testimony
I will write with more detail later; but for now, I hope this will do.
As a young boy, I was raised in a Christian home. Grandparents on both my mother's and my father's side of the family were strong believers.
My mom and dad divorced when I was two years old. My sister and I lived with my mom. Originally, my dad had joint custody; so, we visited him on weekends; but, that did not last very long. Ultimately, my dad married four times and my mother three times; but, she lived with what I guess you could call my fourth dad from the time I was in sixth grade until I had graduated high school.
For those of you who have not experienced it, most churches are not very nice to women who have been divorced. Add the stress of trying to provide for your family as a single mom and you have what I think was the straw that broke the back of our church involvement.
For a while my mom encouraged my sister and I to go to church even when she wasn't; but, there was no resistence to my withdraw from church when I was in the sixth grade. I did not go back to church until I was 20 years old.
In 1994 my life got really crazy! It is a long and exciting story; but, I cannot write about it now. Anyway, to make this long story short, in 1994 it became obvious to my grandparents that I needed Jesus ASAP!
I moved in with my dad's parents and worked on thier farm to pay off some debt under the condition that I would attend church with them. Within a few months, I began to realize that God was asking me to give my life to Him. I finally surrenderd my life to Christ on Friday April 28, 1995. From that day to this day, I have done my best to thank God for saving me.
Almost immediately, I became aware of a sense of calling to ministry. I moved to Plainview and started attending Wayland Baptist University in the fall of 1995 with hopes of becoming a foriegn missionary. Due to a lack of character, I was kicked out of Wayland for the spring semester of 1996. It was at this time that I started attending Harvest Christian Fellowship.
Pastor Paul took me under his wing and allowed me to travel with him on several ministry trips that semester. My time with Paul helped me see that I could be a missionary anywhere there are people who do not know God loves them.
I have been at Harvest ever since. Over the years, Harvest has allowed me to serve in many different ways. Presently, I am serving as the Pastor of Central Ministries. In this position, I am taking responsibility for heading up our church planting efforts. I love the assignment and look forward to seeing what God has in store for our future.
