The Gospel

At the arrival of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago, an angel appeared and said, "Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people" (Lk 2:10). Then there was a multitude of heavenly host gathered with the angel praising God saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men" (Lk 2:14).  The goodwill and peace was from God not between men.

If we are told to let the peace of God rule in our hearts (Col 3:15), why are so many believers not experiencing peace? The reality is that most people have heard part of the Gospel, but not the entire Gospel. Most have heard about Jesus dying for their sin, but not the part about God the Father being at peace with them.

God made peace at the cross by judging and punishing Jesus instead of us. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Jesus. No matter what happens in my life, I know there is peace
between me and God because of Jesus.  The message of the cross
is the message of how God made peace between Himself
and man. If anyone fears God it is because they are not convinced
of His perfect love for them (1 Jn 4:19). This is the Gospel.

Leave some feedback on how the Gospel of peace has impacted
your life and view of God.

Righteousness

If you haven't heard, the new 'buzz' word around Harvest is an old school Bible word called righteousness.  If you grew up in church you probably heard that word over and over.  The truth is that if you're in Christ you really are righteous.  In fact, you could never be more righteous or less righteous.  Righteousness is as it should be.  Righteousness is the heart of the Gospel and the power of God unto salvation.  In fact, the Bible says that righteousness is a gift you received the moment you believed in Jesus.  It abides in you through the person of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you.  It is your right standing and it is your power to stand right.  It makes you feel right about yourself and God.

Ruth - A Story of Redemption

During the time of the Judges when there was a famine, an Israelite family from Bethlehem—Elimelech, his wife Naomi, and their sons Mahlon and Chilion—emigrate to the nearby country of Moab. Elimelech dies, and the sons marry two Moabite women: Mahlon marries Ruth and Chilion marries Orpah.

The two sons of Naomi then die themselves. Naomi decides to return to Bethlehem. She tells her daughters-in-law to return to their own mothers, and remarry. Orpah reluctantly leaves; however, Ruth says, "Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me." (Ruth 1:16-17 NKJV)

Over the next seven weeks we want to hear how God is speaking to you through these messages as we see the hand of God at work.
